Nairobi - Amboseli - Tsavo West - Maasai Mara

Day 1: Nairobi

Upon arrival at the airport you will be warmly met by our Dawin Tours & Travel Ltd representative who will welcome you to our beautiful country Kenya. He will brief you on your safari and later transfer you to your hotel for some leisure time and later dinner and overnight at the The Boma Inn DBB

Day 2: Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, your driver guide will meet you at 0800 hrs where you will then depart for the Amboseli National Park. Amboseli National Park is the perfect location for viewing Africa’s tallest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Arrive at your lodge at 1230hrs, check in then enjoy lunch at 1300hrs. At 1430hrs you will head out for an afternoon game drive in this park which is home to the largest concentration of elephants in the world and the big five, elephant, lion, rhino, buffalo and leopard. It has other attractions such as Lake Amboseli, Lake Jipe and several observation hills. Later at 1800hrs, return for dinner and overnight at Ol Tukai lodge LDBB

Day 3: Tsavo West National Park

Depart, after early morning breakfast, to Tsavo West National Park at 0730hrs to get to Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge in good time for Lunch. Enjoy lunch then later in the afternoon at 1500hrs depart for an exciting afternoon game drive. Tsavo West National Park has a rich history which dates back to 1896 during the construction of the Kenya- Uganda Railway, the era of the ‘’Man Eaters Lions’’ which killed many Railway construction workers. The park has many other animals and other attractions include: Fish Sanctuary, Mzima Springs, Shetani Lava Flow, Chyulu Hills, and Ngulia Escarpment. At 1800hrs return for dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge LDBB

Day 4: Tsavo West National Park

Enjoy breakfast at the lodge and then head out on an exciting full day of exploration in the park. There is plenty of wildlife here including large numbers of elephants and good lion prides. There is a rhino sanctuary where one gets to see the black rhinos. You may also see the Giraffe, impala, buffalo and Burchell’s zebra which are common species here. You guide driver will pick out an excellent location where you will have your picnic lunch. Later continue with the game drive in this park where bird lovers are likely to be amazed by the many species here including eight species of hornbills. At 1800hrs return for dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge LDBB

Day 4: Maasai Ostrich Farm

You will check out of the lodge after breakfast and enjoy an en-route game drive as you leave for the Maasai Ostrich Farm in Kitengela at 0830hrs. Arrive at your resort at approximately 1330hrs. Check in a then enjoy some leisure time before lunch. This afternoon you will be spent at leisure enjoying the resorts’ facilities including the many activities they offer. Later at 1900hrs, enjoy dinner and overnight at the Maasai Ostrich Resort LDBB

Day 5: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Wake up early for an early breakfast and at 0730hrs depart for the World renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve. It’s the home to the 7th wonder of the world. Here you may see all the big five and thousands of other animals grazing in this beautiful reserve. Arrive at your camp at 1300 hrs, check in then enjoy some lunch. At 1400hrs you will enjoy an afternoon game drive. You will enjoy dinner and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp LDBB

Day 6: Maasai Mara National Reserve

Enjoy a very early morning game drive from 0600hrs to 0900hrs. Be on the lookout for the elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and leopard. You will also see lots of wildebeests, zebras, gazelles and other animals. Later return to your lodge at 0930hrs for breakfast. Spend the rest of the mid morning at leisure enjoying the camps’ facilities. Enjoy lunch at the camp at 1300hrs. Later at 1430 hrs head out for yet another exciting game drive. Return at 1800hrs for dinner and overnight at Mara Leisure Camp LDBB

Day 8: Depart

Enjoy breakfast at your camp and then check out. You will enjoy an en-route game drive as you leave for Nairobi. Unfortunately the safari has come to an end but the memories shall stay with you forever. You will then head to the carnivore restaurant for lunch and later you will be taken to the Jomo Kenyatta international airport for your homebound flight.

Mara Leisure Camp

Mara Leisure Camp is located along the Talek River, at the confluence of the Maasai Mara's four wildlife viewing areas, on the northern boundary of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. LOCATION INFORMATION

Nairobi

Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The name "Nairobi" comes from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to "cold water". However, it is popularly known as the "Green City in the Sun" and is surrounded by several expanding villa suburbs. Founded by the British in 1899 as a simple rail depot on the railway linking Mombasa to Uganda, the town quickly grew to become the capital of British East Africa in 1907, and eventually the capital of the newly independent Kenyan republic in 1963. Nairobi is the one of the few cities in the world with a national park within its boundaries, making it a prime tourist destination as well, with several other tourist attractions. The most famous is the Nairobi National Park. The national park is unique in being the only game-reserve of this nature to border a capital city, or any major city. The park contains many animals including lions, giraffes, and black rhinos. The park is home to over 400 species of birds. The Nairobi Safari Walk is a major attraction to the Nairobi National Park as it offers a rare on-foot experience of the animals. Nairobi is home to several museums, sites, and monuments. The Nairobi national Museum is the country's National Museum and largest in the city. It houses a large collection of artifacts portraying Kenya's rich heritage through history, nature, culture, and contemporary art. Other museums include the Nairobi Gallery, Nairobi Railway Museum and the Karen Blixen Museum. Uhuru Gardens, a national monument and the largest memorial park in Kenya, is also the place where the first Kenyan flag was raised at independence. Nairobi's night life is very popular with tourists, both young and old. From a collection of gourmet restaurants offering local and international cuisine, Nairobi has something to offer to every age and pocket. Most common known food establishments include The Carnivore and The Tamarind Restaurants. For those more discerning travelers, one can choose from a wide array of local cuisine, Mediterranean, fast food, Ethiopian, and Arabian. The city's nightlife is mostly centered along friends and colleagues meeting after work. Other sites include Jomo Kenyatta’s Mausoleum, Kenya National Theater and the Kenya National Archives. Art galleries in Nairobi include the Rahimtulla Museum of Modern Art (Ramoma), the Mizizi Arts Centre, and the Nairobi National Museum.

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli National Park is the third most visited wildlife park in Kenya after Maasai Mara National Reserve and Nakuru National Park. It was gazetted as a National Park in 1977 in order to protect this unique ecosystem; the park is famous for being the best place in Kenya to spot elephants. Furthermore, it is a must to photograph the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, the greatest single mountain of the world standing amidst large herds of elephants wandering in the park. In addition to the elephants, you are sure to spot the zebra, gnu, hippopotamus, buffalo, spotted hyena, waterbuck, Maasai giraffe, Thomson's and Grant's gazelle, impala, lion and cheetah. Note also the rare presence of the gerenuk and the fringed-eared Oryx in the arid northern part of the park. Most mammals stay around the swamps during the day and move towards the hilly countryside (southern section) before night. The birdlife is also abundant as about 420 species of birds have been recorded in the park. The observatory, Enkongo Narok, Ol Tukai, Olokenya Swamps and Lake Amboseli are among other attractions in the park.

Tsavo West National Park

Although Tsavo West and Tsavo East were once a single mega-park, they were separated decades ago. Tsavo West is a more popular destination on account of its magnificent scenery, Mzima Springs, , rich and varied wildlife, good road system, rhino reserve, rock climbing potential and guided walks along the Tsavo River. The most iconic attraction in the park is Mzima Springs. The crystal-clear water of this chain of lakes is filtered through the volcanic rocks of the Chyulu Hills just to the north. The Shetani Lava Flow is the largest of a whole series of lava flows in the park, with several places where you can get out of your vehicle and stretch your legs, including a series of lava caves below the surface. The Chaimu Crater is a nature trail where, again, you can leave your safari vehicle and hike. Another attracting site is the wooded Poacher’s Lookout, which you drive up on a steep, winding track. You can often seen lesser kudu in this area. Further east, the much bigger Rhodesian Hill, Kichwa Tembo and Ngulia have some dramatic steep slopes and cliffs. Tsavo’s lions achieved notoriety in 1898 during the building of the Mombasa-Nairobi railway.

Maasai Ostrich Resort

Maasai Ostrich Resort is located 45 kilometers from Nairobi on Athi River/Kitengela plains. Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Together with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania it forms Africa’s most diverse, incredible and most spectacular eco-systems and possibly the world’s top safari big game viewing eco-system. The park was made famous by the abundance of the big cats, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and the great wildebeest migration and the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress. The Maasai Mara National Reserve not the largest conservation area in Kenya but it is the most famous one. The Maasai Mara and the Serengeti are part of the same eco-system. The official perimeter of the Maasai Mara National Reserve is bounded by the Serengeti Park of Tanzania to the south, the Siria escarpment (also called Oloololo escarpment) to the west and Masai pastoral ranches to the north, east and west. Total surface is 1530km². There is no fence. The eastern border is the Oloololo Escarpment (Siria escarpment) and wildlife tend to be most concentrated here, as the swampy ground means that access to water is always good and tourist disruption is minimal. When visiting the Maasai Mara you are likely to see the famous Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. Especially lions are common here, and have grown relatively accustomed to their two-legged visitors, which makes them easier to spot. The Mara Plains are teeming with wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, impala and Thomson's gazelle. Also cheetahs, hyenas and jackals are seen regularly in the reserve. In the Mara River large amounts of hippos and crocodiles are enjoying their lives - the crocodiles are especially happy in July and November when thousands of wildebeest migrate across the river causing a sumptuous feast for the hungry crocodiles. Birdlife in Maasai Mara are abundant and diverse. Species such as eagles, ostriches, storks and vultures are among the more than 50 different birds of prey.
